Joburg’s big construction gathering is getting a heavy dose of commercial metal with Stellantis South Africa rolling up to showcase what its workhorse range can do for the people building the nation.

The global carmaker brings its Stellantis Pro One commercial lineup to the Big 5 Construct South Africa event, billing it as a no-nonsense, wallet-friendly set of wheels for businesses that need to keep things moving without breaking the bank. Across the world, the Pro One division moved about 1,65-million units in 2025, and in the Middle East and Africa region, it sits second in the commercial vehicle pecking order.

The event, on until June 11 at Gallagher Convention Centre in Joburg, is pulling in contractors, developers, engineers, architects and suppliers from all corners of the construction value chain. The appearance of the Pro One range follows hot on the heels of the local launch of the Peugeot Partner, the newest face in a family built to keep operations ticking over.

“Construction runs on movement. Materials, tools, crews and equipment all have to get where they’re needed on time, and at a cost that works. That makes the vehicle a working tool, not simply transport,” said Moeketsi Mapogo, Stellantis Brand Head for Pro One LCV.

“We want to show the sector that Stellantis Pro One has a fit-for-purpose answer for almost every job on site, from the first delivery to the final handover at Big 5 Construct.”

Visitors can expect to see a spread of commercial solutions, including the Peugeot Partner in long and short-wheelbase versions, the Peugeot Landtrek Single Cab and Double Cab, the Citroën Hola Panelvan, and the Fiat Tris.

Taking centre stage is the new Peugeot Partner, a van packing up to 4,4 cubic metres of load space, a one-tonne payload, and claimed fuel sipping of 5,1 litres per 100 kilometres. Dual sliding side doors and rear doors that swing open 180 degrees help with loading in tight spots. Inside, a 10-inch digital cluster and 10-inch touchscreen come standard, along with a solid bundle of safety and driver-assist tech to take the edge off a long shift.

“The new Partner is a good example of how low fuel consumption, practical load space and the manoeuvrability to work in tight, busy environments, backed by aftersales support, can help keep businesses moving,” Mapogo added.

Behind the metal sits a bigger plan. Stellantis has been talking up its FaSTLAne 2030 strategy, which includes two new multi-energy van platforms built on the STLA Brain architecture, and a shift from just selling vehicles to offering a wider ecosystem of services for professional customers.

“What sits behind these vehicles matters just as much as the vehicles themselves. That’s why Stellantis Pro One is moving from being a vehicle supplier to a full business partner, and South Africa is part of that plan,” said Mapogo. “For a construction customer, that means more support, better uptime and a clear commitment to this market for the long term.”

“South Africa and the wider Sub-Saharan region are strategic growth markets for us. Customers can expect a steady expansion of our range, built around the same promise of practical mobility that helps businesses do more with less.”
